The Best Swim Spa Filtration

ConstantClean is like having cruise control for your spa. You can set it and practically forget it for up to four to six weeks.¹ When your spa is not in use, SmartClean software schedules a one-hour filtration cycle twice per day. And after a swim or hydrotherapy session, SmartClean automatically schedules a 30-minute cleanup cycle.

A five-stage filtration process suctions, traps and removes contaminants and particulates. Two 90ft² filters and Vortex skimmers ensure the entire water volume of the spa is filtered top to bottom. By integrating the filtration system with the spa’s primary high-flow pump, ConstantClean filters more water per day than other brands, and does it in one tenth of the time!

• Other swim spa brands rely on a dedicated, low-flow circulation pump that runs 24/7. Not only do these low-flow pumps consume more electricity, they are among the most commonly-replaced spa parts.
• ATV high-volume Vortex filtration filters 100% of the water volume an average of five times per day, running for only 2-1/2 hours total!²

¹To ensure sufficient sanitizer level and balanced water chemistry, you should test your water on a weekly basis and add sanitizer as needed. For added convenience, a floating cartridge system or in-line sanitation system (V150 only) is recommended.

²Filtration scenario based on the 2,400 gallon ATV-17 Kona with factory default settings, using its dual-speed 160 GPM (606 LPM) pump running at low speed (80 GPM/ 303 LPM). Smaller ATV swim spas, which have less water volume, actually filter the entire water volume more than five times per day.

The Best Swim Spa Sanitation

Like all pools, a swim spa requires sanitizer to kill waterborne microbes. Chlorine or bromine crystals may be added a few times per week, or a sanitizing float can be used for three to four weeks. For added convenience and a lower concentration of sanitizer chemicals in your water, a dual-cartridge floating system (sanitizer and mineral/conditioner) can be used for four to six weeks.

Ozonator with Mazzei injection: Standard on the ATV-14 and ATV-17 and optional on the V150. Ozone (O₃) permeates the water flow, oxidizing and destroying bacteria at the molecular level. After returning to the spa, residual O₃ reverts back into regular oxygen (O₂). Much more effective than UV light systems.

• Why not UV light? While ultraviolet light is one method of neutralizing bacteria, ozone is much more effective. In a UV system, water flows past a UV bulb very quickly. At best, this only disrupts the ability of bacteria to reproduce. Over time, the UV bulb sleeve clouds up (further diminishing the quality of sanitation), and the bulb itself must be replaced every 12 months.

V150 in-line sanitation (optional): In addition to the included water care features, the V150 Swim Spa & Party Vessel offers in-line sanitation as an optional feature. This dual-cartridge powerhouse automates the process of sanitation by means of a slow-dose cartridge, gradually dispensing sanitizer over the course of four to six weeks. In addition, a mineral (or conditioning) cartridge softens the water for up to four weeks. The result is crystal clear and odorless spa water that feels silky, fresh and clean.

How it Works

• To remove surface contaminants such as body oils, lotions and skin cells, Vortex skimmers direct surface water into the filter cartridges to trap contaminants and particulates.
• To remove settled debris from the bottom of the spa, deep water is drawn up from the footwell through multiple safety suction fittings.
• Water drawn into the safety suction fittings is forced upward through the filter cartridges to trap debris, after which it mixes with filtered water from the surface skimmers, resulting in complete filtration from top to bottom.
• Filtered water is drawn into the primary jet pump.
• Water is immediately routed through the high-flow heater assembly. If the hot tub is equipped with ozonator the water now splits into a separate sanitation route.
• The high-output, energy-efficient ozonator converts oxygen (O₂) into activated ozone gas (O₃). The Mazzei injector mixes the ozone with filtered water.
• Bacteria and other contaminants are oxidized before the O₃ reverts back into O₂. This process destroys bacteria at the molecular level, dissolving its cellular structure and eradicating it.
• Residual ozone and converted oxygen are reintroduced into the spa water through a dedicated fitting for maximum efficiency. Any remaining O₃ reverts back into O₂.
• On the V150, the optional dual-cartridge in-line sanitation system treats water with natural minerals (or conditioners) and sanitizer before reentering the spa.
